Writing to Learn

Writing to Learn

Like many of you, writing is a passion for me, yet, I hesitate to take this first step to have my words in print.  I wonder what I might have to say that would interest others who share this space?

I often write in response to an experience that leaves me in deep thought or confusion. When I am perplexed by the actions of others, I write to help me understand the situation. Most often, I write to process my feelings or new information I have just encountered. Sometimes, it takes a while for me to put the information or experience into perspective as it fits into my world at this time.

For me writing is about learning and exchanging views on subjects of interest.  My interests vary, but often focus on education and its impact on society. All children deserve fair, equitable and quality education. Bullying concerns me in schools, homes, offices, politics and the world.  I believe words are powerful and should be used with care.

I also write stories with strong connections to the people who impact my life or have left a mark on me that I want to document and remember.

Many of my posts will be connected to the Theme of my novel, Teach Mankind to Fish. Writing is a way to release anxiety as it does for my main character, Gloria. It is also a way for the author to share the inner thoughts of the characters they are developing. Writing is a way to teach and learn about yourself and (hu)mankind.
