Blind Ambition and Greed

Shots ring loudly in the air.

And yet, our leaders do not hear

small victims shouting, scattering about.

Falling everywhere as they bleed.

Children run for their lives.

Teachers bravely stay to fight.

Parents and communities live to grieve.

Young survivors live with bad memories.

Protesters march on the streets.

Guns sales rise steadily.

Gun makers make a killing.

Because guns kill innocent lives.

The dangerous truth is in plain sight,

“But for those so blind who cannot see.”

National leaders respond in silence.

Because of blind ambition and greed.
