A Call to Stand for Justice for All

A Call to Stand for Justice for All

Standing alone, Colin Kaepernick silently stepped forward. Bending on one knee, hearing the crowd roar, seeing the fans stand and boo loudly, as the flag waved a sad good-bye to a united land of the free.

Lowering his head, full of names of those who have died. Wondering how does a piece of cloth that stands for liberty and justice for All, become a weapon that allows the law to fall upon a knee on a victim’s neck? A victim who cries out in pain pleads for his life and needlessly dies. Whose only crime was being a Black man in a country that refuses to see.

A country, led by a person who claims that kneeling during the Star-Spangled Banner disrespects the flag and the service of soldiers, “a just reason for calling them SOB’s”. While all along showing no regard for the fallen and wounded soldiers. Calling the soldiers “losers and suckers” because they died and did not win.

Standing up for the land of the free and the home of the brave, peaceful protesters came out by the thousands only to receive more brutality from those who call themselves protectors of justice but are deniers of the truth. Flares, gas, armored trucks, military gear, and bullets greet the crowds. A call for “military intervention” is a cry heard above the rest.

Responding to calls, the white supremacists enter towns carrying the American flag upon the backs of their trucks.  Surrounded by Confederate flags and anti-American symbols.  They do not stand for liberty and justice for ALL as stated in the allegiance to the flag that “our leader” professes to love.  Why are they carrying the flag that Americans stand for, next to their guns that threaten the freedom of peaceful protesters?

Where are the boos for those who defend police brutality and bended knees on the necks of the Black people? Why not stand up to the militants who protect brutality with brutality.

Once he stood alone, but now he is joined by freedom loving fans. Despite losing everything, he will continue to kneel as well as stand for soldiers, his country, and justice. Filled with a dream that ALL his fellow Americans will one day be able to safely breathe throughout a civil and just land.
